The Denver Broncos critics/fans appear to be waiting for Peyton Manning to reenact a Brett Favre Drama. In hopes of repeating a Superbowl or making it to the Playoffs again. With the loss of good players in Peyton Manning, C.J. Anderson, Danny Trevethan, Brock Osweiler and Malik Jackson. The Denver Broncos defensive fantasy value has decreased slightly. Offensively last season? Well, there was better options daily. Moon Man thinks that Brock Osweiler wasn’t the solution in Denver. I have to believe John Elway wouldn’t let a franchise quarterback go. Signing him for $72 million based off of last year with just 7 starts is overpaying. The Houston Texans valued him more and since Kirk Cousins and Sam Bradford got paid big bucks. Brock garnered $72 million over 4 years. Can’t fault the Texans for making moves. Especially with that Defense and DeAndre Hopkins at the wideout position. Granted in those starts Brock Osweiler performed average to good. Maintaining a 5-2 record behind an all-time great defense in my opinion. Brock Osweiler entered the game late in the 3rd quarter home against the Kansas City Chiefs in week 10. Peyton Manning threw 4 picks and left the game with a zero qb rating. Hey, it happens. Even the Hall of Famer John Elway and arguably the best quartback of ALL-TIME had a few bad games. I mean he lost 3 of 4 Superbowls back in 1986 through 1989. Only to win back to back Superbowls in 1997 and 1998. John Elway is the Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the Denver Broncos. He is the man in Denver and now just has to help the Broncos get another qb. Definitely are not going to scoop up a Peyton Manning in free agency this off season. Probably never. Who was better John Elway or Peyton Manning? Anyway. Back to the topic. These are some of the available Free Agent Quarterbacks the Broncos could end up with.
RG III– Super Fantasy Football Sleeper at this point. Is Griffin the solution? The 4 year pro was rookie of the year in 2012 and hasn’t started an NFL game in over a year. Maybe a second chance in a different location would help. The Broncos organization has a solid core of players and leaders in that locker room. The Broncos still have Demarcus Ware, DB Chris Harris Jr, and Franchise Tagged All World LB/DE Von Miller. 2015 First Round pick DE/LB Shane Rey will be better and Third Round pick TE Jeff Heuerman should see the field. Possibly trading wideout Demaryrius Thomas or Emmanuel Sanders to move up in the 1st round could happen.
The San Diego Chargers have the 3rd round pick. Antonio Gates, Keenan Allen, Travis Benjamin and Demaryius Thomas. That’d get RB Melvin Ingram into the end zone and have Phillip Rivers going off the board #1 in some Fantasy Football Drafts. Would Jerry Jones bring in a Broncos wide receiver to complement Dez Bryant and Jason Witten? Tony Romo and the Cowboys window is closing. This trade could happen for fantasy friends too! The Jaguars would be reminiscent of the Denver Broncos back in 2013 with Wes Welker, Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas. Moon Man’s #1 ranked fantasy quarterback Blake Bortles would go bonkers! Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson were fantasy studs this past season. Scoring touchdowns in the same game 6 times. The Jaguars have the salary cap room too!
Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens need a #1 WR but have limited cap space. It’d be a nice fit though and would put the Ravens in the Playoff conversation immediately. The Philadelphia Eagles have been making moves and recently acquired pick 8 in round one. Top ranked rookie QBs Carson Wentz or Jared Goff might still be around at this stage of the draft. Moon Man thinks the Birds could even trade Sam Bradford to the Broncos for their 63rd pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. The Broncos might even sign Mark Sanchez when he becomes available. No need for Mark in Philly since Chase Daniel is reunited with Doug Pederson.
Other Fantasy Thoughts would be the Buccaneers at pick 9 and the Bears at 11. Jameis Winston to Mike Evans and Emmanuel Sanders. Jay Cutler to Alshon Jeffry and DT! If either qb falls further in the draft. The Saints at 12, Dolphins at 13 and the Raiders at 14 would be hot fire in the Fantasy Football world.
So all in all the Denver Broncos have hope. Head Coach Gary Kubiak, Offensive Coordinator Rich Dennison, Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips and Special Teams Coordinator Joe DeCamillis would contend for the AFC West if they sign RG III. Ryan Fitzpatrick is available but Moon Man thinks he will sign with the Jets. That leaves trading for Colin Kaepernick if the Broncos are to try for a repeat. The Broncos first 3 picks in the 2016 NFL Draft are 31st, 63rd and 94th. They can address some issues at the rb position or add offensive line depth. Possibly focus on defensive players which this draft is deep in if they sign one of these free agents. If they opt to trade up and draft a franchise quarterback versus the available stop gap/game managers available. They have experienced winners available. Mark Sanchez went to two AFC Conference Championship Games with the New York Jets nasty defense. Colin Kaepernick was part of the San Francisco 49ers run of 3 straight Conference Championship Games back in 2011 through 2013. Including a loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the Superbowl. Ryan Fitzpatrick and RG III have both been to the Playoffs once. Trading up to land Carson Wentz of Jared Goff is the Denver Broncos best bet to repeat.
