Pierre Thomas speaks via Facebook after his former teammate, Will Smith was shot and killed this past Saturday night.

“The last few days have been a whirlwind and I am still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing. I flew out of New Orleans last night and back to Chicago because I couldn’t think straight…I witnessed a close friend, teammate and a man that I thought of as one of my big brothers in the NFL shot to death over a FUCKING FENDER BENDER!!! What, why how? I just don’t get it…these images that I have in my head will never leave me and I understand that and will have to live with it. I want to thank each and every one of you, my family, friends, fans and the whole entire Who Dat Nation for all of your thoughts and prayers….but let’s send them instead to Will’s family – his wife and 3 kids who have to be strong during this difficult time.

People!!! When is this shit going to stop? There is so much senseless killing going on in our world, and I’m not saying that I have the answers to fix it…but I am willing to do my part to help and find a solution. It really is ridiculous how cool it is to be gangster. To listen to rap music, carry a gun, get drunk, and smoke week. Fuck the Police! It’s cool as hell to break the law and not give a fuck. People willing to fight, to kill over the littlest things. A simple traffic accident, no one was hurt. Except one person died from gun shot wounds and his wife was shot twice in the leg. Just because it’s cool to be a thug, act tough, and disrespectful.

It’s a culture, a fucked up, mainly black culture. Yea that’s right. Just listen to any number of rap songs and it’s clear they are preaching this very culture. In fact, you’re NOT cool if you don’t act this way. You ain’t a real nigga, acting all white. Kids get made fun of for going to school and being polite.

I get it, it seems really cool on the surface. You walk around not giving a fuck, have tons of money, fuck a ton of chicks, smoke weed all day, and shoot who ever for what ever. You’re tough as shit. But guess what? That’s not real life kids, this isn’t GTA on your PS4. The people that act this way in real life end up dead or in jail. Will Smith Dead, Cardell Hayes locked up. Or if not those two, you’ll be sitting on the corner begging for change and robbing people just to get by. I see it everyday on the streets of Philadelphia, this is an epidemic.

Break out of this ideology that the only way to be cool is to tote a gun and act like you don’t care if you die. Get with the real world and make something of yourself. School is the best path to a well paying career, LEARN.
