It’s mid July and Fantasy Football Drafts are in the forecast! Signings, re-signings, the franchise tag, trades and suspensions effect a player’s Rankings/value. It seems that players entering the final year of their contract fair well in fantasy output. It can also lead to hold outs, locker room drama, diminished targets/touches and a NFL team dumping a productive player for a 4th rounder or worse. Let’s take a look at some impactful NFL transactions.
–Seattle Seahawks extended WR Doug Baldwin’s contract another 4 years for $46 million. Doug Baldwin is the clear cut #1 wide out in Seattle. He is a target machine and Russell Wilson’s go to guy on 3rd downs. Look for Baldwin to achieve double digit touchdowns for the second year in a row. There is a lot of value in QB-WR chemistry/trust. AKA Antonio Brown and Big Ben.

-Defensive End Sheldon Richardson of the New York Jets is suspended 1 game for violating the league’s conduct policy. Thats $100k plus out of his pocket! Not to mention the impact he has for the Jets DST. On the bright side of life. The Jets recently re-signed defensive beast Muhammad Wilkerson to a massive contact. No longer franchise tagged and ready to produce in Fantasy. Wilkerson signed a 5 year deal worth $86 million. Well done New York, well done.
–Detroit Lions released Wiley vet linebacker Stephen Tulloch. Tulloch is a deeper IDP option in leagues with multiple IDP starters.
–San Diego Chargers signed center Max Tuerk to a 4 year deal. Adding depth to a weak offensive line.
-Fantasy sleeper Karlos Williams of the Buffalo Bills is suspended 4 games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. This is a big hit for the Bills with the recent news of rookie running back Jonathan Williams being arrested for DWI. Likely with a suspension coming in 2017 unless he continues to make poor decisions. Speaking of poor decisions. Shady McCoys’s immaturity and injury history has the Buffalo Bill’s running game looking inconsistent at the moment. Taking a look at Mike Gillislee in later draft rounds or on the wire needs to be considered. Once Pre-Season starts. Nonetheless, Don’t sleep on Karlos Williams. After serving his suspension. He will be a viable high risk-high reward fantasy player. Karlos Williams has high value in DFS.
–Denver Broncos signed lineback/defensive end Von Miller to a 6 year deal worth $114.5 million deal! With $70 million in guaranteed money. Von Miller’s deal is the biggest non-quarterback contract in NFL history ( in terms of his guaranteed $70 million). Miller is a top fifteen IDP player when positioned as a linebacker and a top 5 IDP player at the defensive lineman position.
–Oakland Raiders DB David Amerson signed a 4 year contract extension worth $38 million. Prediction: The Raiders defense will be a top 10 DST in 2016!
-Linebacker Aaron Lynch of the San Francisco 49ers is suspended 4 games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
–Fantasy Football top 5 kicker Justin Tucker signed a 4 year deal worth $16.8 million. Tucker can kick the 50+ yard field goal with the best of them. The Baltimore Ravens made a good decision with this signing. Shout out to Tucker for being an Elite kicker in real life football and the fantasy world.

Franchised players to note:
–Alshon Jeffery of the Chicago Bears is a top 15 WR.
-Defensive Back Trumaine Johnson of the Los Angeles Rams is a IDP option.
–Kirk Cousins of the WashingtonRedskins is a top ten Quarterback.
–Eric Berry of the Kansas City Chiefs is a solid IDP option.
A few players in the last year of their contracts that could step their game up are Le’Veon Bell, Eddie Lacy, Latavius Murray, Allen Robinson, Emmanuel Sanders, Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald.
