Moon Man’s Quarterback Rankings

Quarterback Rankings Moon ManPeter Diana / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette 12/15/2013 PITTSBURGH: Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger looks to pass against the Bengals at Heinz Field PIttsburgh PA

Why Fantasy Football Friends should PASS on Drafting a Quarterback before Round 7!

Drafting your starting Quarterback in Fantasy Football is a make or break kinda pick? Well, not really but if you draft a Quarterback in the early rounds. It better be a 50 TD for 5,000 yards kinda season. Resist the urge to draft Cam Newton or Aaron Rodgers. Unless your league starts multiple Quarterbacks and/or gives 6 points per touchdown. Hold off on drafting your starting quarterback until the 7th round or later.

Look for Blake Bortles in the 6th round or later. Snag him when you can. Moon Man has him ranked #1. Bortles will finish as a Top 3 fantasy Quarterback in 2016. Fantasy Friends are winning if he is available in the 7th rounds or later. Which he is. Blake Bortle’s ADP is 7-8th rounds. Even Eli Manning with an ADP of the 10th round offers intrigue.

Moon Man needs to see more of offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan with new Giant’s head coach Ben McAdoo. The promise and excitement is building in Northern New Jersey with WR Victor Cruz returning to full health. Rookie WR Sterling Shepard is receiving praise from the Giants coaching staff and has been a sponge since being drafted in the 2nd round. Eli Manning threw for 4,432 yards with 35 touchdowns in 2015. Moon Man thinks without Tom Coughlin in New York and the emergence of mutant wide receiver Odell Beckham. Eli has the weapons and is in the situation to produce again. Definitely worth a 10th round or better pick.

Not sold on Eli Manning? Then back him up with Ryan Tannehill or Marcus Mariota in the later rounds. The quarterback depth is good in 2016. The upside of qb’s Derek Carr and Blake Bortles cannot be overlooked in 2016. Jameis Winston, Joe Flacco and Kirk Cousins are being drafted in the mid to later rounds. Get it yet?

Selecting a running back or wide receiver in the early rounds is recommended. Draft 5 WRS with your first five picks before using the pick on a stud Quarterback? For 2016 Moon Man is drafting wide receivers early and often. Hitting the waiver wire for running backs and doubling up on quarterbacks with upside. Common sense tells us that RBs Todd Gurley and David Johnson can be selected #1 overall. Adrian Peterson and Le’Veon Bell should draw thought halfway through the 1st round. Lamar Miller and Ezekiel Elliot make excellent wrap-around picks in snake Drafts (https://ffnation.comrunning-back-rankings/).

Big Blake? The Jacksonville Jaguars offense will rely on his arm in 2016. It’s his team and his time. Drafting him in rounds 6-12 is great value. Moon Man has Blake Bortles ranked #1 expecting a 40 TD season. Combining Big Blake with A-ROB or Allen Hurns will be rewarding. Julius Thomas could have two 2 touchdown performances in 2016 and will push for double digit receiving touchdowns. Watching the Jaguars 2015 games. It was obvious Thomas was still recovering from previous injuries but still reliable in fantasy football when targeted. Finally 100% healthy and in a potent offense. Julius Thomas is another weapon in the redzone that will add to Bortle’s rank as #1.

An improved offensive line solidifies Bortles as the best Quarterback to draft in 2016. Running Back T.J. Yeldon in year two will compliment Chris Ivory. Ivory will rise up the running back rankings as September approaches (https://ffnation.comrunning-back-rankings/).

Bortles is poised to open the season slinging the rock home to Green Bay in week 1. The Packers are a veteran team and the Jags will be throwing from behind early? The potential for a week 1 shootout is here! Week 2 has Blake Bortles putting up 4 touchdowns against the porous Chargers defense. Week 3 the Jags are home to the rebuilding Baltimore Ravens. Fantasy Friends shouldn’t expect the Raven’s secondary to improve until the Midway point of the 2016 season. This game could be a shootout with Joe Flacco offering tremendous fantasy value as a spot starter. Week 4 in London, the Jaguars are home to the Indianapolis Colts and again Blake Bortles puts up huge numbers.

Through 4 weeks of the 2016 NFL seasons. Bortles could have put up two 4 touchdown games and rack up over 1,176 passing yards. After their bye week in week 5. Bortles will face the Bears, Raiders, Titans and Chiefs. Fantasy Friends will be hard pressed to find better matchups than the Jaguars have. Even if the Raiders or Chiefs perform well on the defensive side. Fourth Quarter Fantasy points will be racked up by Bortles. Not sold on Big Blake? The second half schedule is tougher? With the Texans, Lions, Bills, Broncos and Vikings. Finishing the season with divisional matchups will have the Jags competing through all 17 weeks (Texans, Titans, Colts). The stars align for Big Blake to put up 40 touchdowns.

  1. Phillip Rivers is underrrated. Glad to see You not dumb. Carr and Bortles?? You sure are up on them. Like Eli and why are people sleeping on zbrady??

    • Bortles will not regress in 2016.
Carr is coming into his own and has an improved squad. Both qbs need to limit turnovers.
      Higher on Bortles!!
Scoop a QB in the later rounds for weeks 1-4 until Brady back week 5.

  2. Nice list. See you have been high on Blake Bortles since last season. After seeing the 1st preseason game. It looks like you might be onto somthimg with Blake. Dalton is kinda low after his 2015 campaign. Thoughts on why he isnt in the top 15??

    • Last year was with Sanu and Marvin Jones. I value chemistry and those wrs built a repore with Dalton. They are gone. Dalton had his best Fantasy season last yr. I expect the Bengals to run more in 2016.

  3. Kirk Cousins at 7 nah
