NFL FREE AGENCY RECAP: AFC/NFC EAST

AFC EAST and NFC EAST

Day 1 of the NFL Free Agency period was definitely exciting as big name players changed teams. Fantasy Football implications and Playoffs hope for certain teams have now arisen. Lets check out who went where.

NFC East

New York Giants – DE Olivier Vernon, DB Janoris Jenkins and DL Damon Harrison.

Winners for the short term in my opinion.

Philadelphia Eagles – LB Nigel Bradham and CB Ron Brooks, QB Chase Daniel, G Brandon Brooks and DB Rodney McLeod.

Winners all around. Moved to 8th pick in the upcoming 2016 NFL Draft. Philadelphia Eagles fans should be ecstatic.

Washington Redskins – DB Duke Ihenacho, LB Mason Foster, DL Kedric Golston and QB Colt McCoy.

Efficient moves but I feel the Redskins are now in the cellar of the NFC East once again. Let’s wait for the draft. TBT.

Dallas Cowboys – Resigning LB Rolando McClain was a solid move. Targeting DL Cedric Thorton.

Nothing to speak of in Dallas. Looking forward to their Draft. As of now I have the Eagles and GMEN as the frontrunners. Dallas will rebound this yr and the NFC East is an improved division overall.

AFC EAST

Buffalo Bills – Resigned OL Richie Incognito and Cordy Glenn. DL Marcell Dareus resigned which is a good move. Letting the negative underproducing Mario Williams go was the correct decision.

New England Patriots – Missed out on WR Marvin Jones. The Patriot’s haven’t made any splashes in free agency which is not surprising. Still the favorite of the AFC East.

Miami Dolphins – Acquiring DB Bryon Maxwell is a downgrade from DB Brent Grimes. Lost WR Rishard Matthews, RB Lamar Miller and the overpaid DL Olivier Vernon. Kiko Alonso at lb if healthy will bolster the front seven and if Mario Williams signs in Miami. You better believe he will play good in his first yr. Only to disappoint after that. Miami is tbt.

New York Jets – Signed RB Matt Forte. Big win here. Lost RB Chris Ivory and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is testing the free agent market.

  1. Do you think the Giants will have a top 5 defense this year? I’m not sold on the Eagles. What are your thoughts on the Eagles trading Sam Bradford??

    • Howie is definitely making moves. Makes me think Chip was out at the Midway point last season. Trading Bradford before they have to pay him might happen. The 8th pick might land the birds a franchise qb. Still. I don’t see the trade happening.
The giants being a top 5 defense may be a stretch at this point. Top 5 D vs Trading Sam. Il say top 5 D.

  2. I’m not sold on the Eagles either. It’s a QB reliant league and Philly is lacking at the position. I would love to see a Bradford trade and take our chances with a young gun.

Speaking of QB’s, the G-Men have a good one. I like the upgrades they made in free agency and I do think they will contend for the NFC East… But I’m not expecting that Defense to be Top 5. If they win the East, it’ll be because of their Offense.
