Chip Kelly is Head Coach of the San Francisco 49ers!

49ers fans around the globe rejoice after being close to football supremacy back in Super Bowl XLVII. This past season’s record of 5-11, inconsistent qb play and an aging roster are signs of a rebuild. This left few fantasy options for us during the 2015 campaign. If any options at all!

Aside from Carlos Hyde’s explosive week 1 performance and Shaun draughn’s end of the year ppr value. The 49ers players were an abysmal fantasy option. We were left plugging in Boldin based on matchups and throwing darts with Torrey Smith. Shout out to the DFS guys and gals who plugged Vance McDonald into their lineups for weeks 12, 13 and 16. Great Value those weeks!

Let the discussions begin about Colin Kaepernick’s value! Top 10 qb heading into preseason rankings?

Luckily for 49er’s players and fantasy owners. Chip Kelly is not in charge of personnel at the moment. Chip proved he knows how to demolish a team and rid it of any viable fantasy options. Examples being Maclin, Desean and Shady with the Philadelphia Eagles. However, Chip was able to….Oh, wait. Chip also brought Murray, Ryan Matthews and Sproles to the fantasy cellar. Bradford, Ertz and Jordan Matthews played better towards season’s end. Maybe that had to do with Chip being on his way out.

From week 1 through week 17, Chip crushed fantasy dreams. Stacking DFS lineups with Eagle’s players was a no brainer. Until Chip’s true offensive genius came to fruition??? Shout out to those of you who realized it was more hype than truth. I abandoned ship on stacking Eagles in my lineups after week 4.

Only to return with Jordan Matthews and Ertz in my lineups at season’s end. Dare I say redemption?lol

For today, I am exercising Caution and expect you too as well. Chip will garner excitement as he claims headlines. At the end of the day. The 49ers have one solid fantasy option from this past season. That being IDP stalwart Novarro Bowman!

Sure Kaepernick in a Chip Kelly offense widens fantasy player’s eyes. But i urge caution for these reasons:

  1. The NFC West is stacked defensively.
  2. Will Chip’s so called disrespect of players in the past resonate with San Fran?
  3. Chip’s fast paced offense is not NFL player friendly. It hurts the defense over a 17 game season.
  4. NFL defensive coaches are onto Chip’s shenanigans.
  5. Even with professional athletes. The 49ers current fantasy options are weak.

I’m looking forward to the draft and how San Fran attacks the free agent market this off season. I’m out.
